Meh, it is just good advice to minimize the effects of shortages. People hording items will only make things worse. As long as we don't make things worse there should be enough.

What do you suppose the reaction will (and should) be to the government telling people not to stick up on supplies?TheOneX wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:22 pmMeh, it is just good advice to minimize the effects of shortages. There’s no reason to pretend we’re all in this together: we aren’t: of course, stock up. Without nepotism, you’ve got to rely on yourself. You not buying staples just means somebody else will.

I have an answer for this, as I have a sister in law in DC.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:28 pmWhat do you suppose the reaction will (and should) be to the government telling people not to stick up on supplies?
I had sent a link to the article where I found this https://theconservativetreehouse.com/bl ... mphasized/
She in turn sent the article to her sister in DC. The sister in DC, instead of thinking about it, or trusting her sisters warning, asked a friend in DC who runs the DC area food banks. He declared it fake news, and the DC mayor never put the warning. Even though the article links directly back to the DC mayors own official twitter account. So, no need to worry, a DC Expert had spoken.
I've been thinking about the difference between hoarding, panic buying, and stocking up? Probably timing and volume, but it's also a matter of not only what you have, but what your neighbors have, or what the law says. It seems relative.

Seems like something easy to check: is that a real Twitter post or not?
