Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby told The Clarion-Ledger Tuesday's arrests are not directly related to Chambers' death, but to information gathered as authorities have interviewed more than 150 people and sorted through more than 20,000 phone records trying to find her killer.
Reading comprehension... a lost art.
I am having trouble comprehending how the highlighted words you have selected relate to this thread other than to show the extensive nature of this crime syndicate which is responsible for the rape, murder and cover up of a 19 year old girl.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought something like raping a white girl would only be a hate crime if the specific fact that she was white was a/the major factor in the decision. If the rapist acts because she looked decent enough for him and he was horny, that should be a terrible crime, but simply because this rapist id black doesn't make it a hate crime.
Or am I just missing something altogether?

Aren't we just making this shit up on the fly? What would reverse headline read I wonder?

The girl was doused with gas and set on fire, but no one's been charged for that crime yet. Presumably, they will use the current indictments to coerce some of the gang members to implicate the actual wrongdoers in exchange for a plea deal. Once indictments are prepared for her murder, they can throw in the hate crime allegation which will heighten the severity of the charges. There is no basis at this stage to believe that the absence of a hate crime allegation is somehow evidence of corrupt bias on the part of law enforcement or the prosecutor favoring black people.

What should be necessary to justify adding the hate crime charge?

Vermin masquerading as human have been raping, torturing, and murdering people since forever. It isn't hard to find plenty of examples of variations of this and of every color combination you can think of. So how is this particular piece of horror extra newsworthy?

Black girl raped by white boys... otherwise it can't be race related.
The only point of this thread is to point out the obvious which is that if the races were reversed this would be national headline news assigning partial blame on Trump.
We all know that it would be. Discussing the media at this point is like talking about Jersey Shore episodes.

Possibly. But what difference would it make? Does different media rhetoric change the investigation or the legal situation?
