Re: Coronavirus thread
I have been formulating my write up of my emigrating back to this island.
I travelled to California for about 3 weeks to finish some loose ends and to see my family. What a surreal experience. I stayed with my sister in Castro Valley (East Bay for those familiar) but my old life was all about the Peninsula. I checked out my old place of work and actually picked up a few jobs to do there but for the most part people are super scared still. I had people that I have known for 15+ years, and still have keys to their house, that shunned me like I was some leper. It was really weird. It is a 101 unit condo area and I used to know about 80% of all the residents, especially any that had animals. Considered them friends even, as I said, I had keys to about 20 of the houses to do work and to take care of whatever they needed. Fear of Covaids has killed all of that goodwill. Down to about 5 people who still would have me in their homes.
So to get back on Oahu. They have a program called "Safe Travels" where one has to upload their vaccination paperwork or negative test and get a QR code to show the people at the airport. I didn't do any of this because the last option is to quarantine for 10 days and I was going home. The people at SFO were asking about the QR code at baggage check in and at the gate. People who had some sort of paperwork were given a wristband. There were a few different colored wristbands that I am not sure what each color meant. The flight was the normal routine 5 hour affair. Food and drinks were offered, the funniest to me was that the initial offering was selling water and snacks to the cabin but by the 3rd trip they were giving the water away for free.
Upon landing and disembarking from the plane there were airport staff who segregating us passengers, people with a wristband could go on the shuttles and buses to go to baggage claim. Anyone who didn't had to walk through the terminals from Terminal 1 to the end of Terminal 2 to get in a line to be checked into the State. Now I am not talking about a short jaunt, it was about a 1/2 mile walk with shops and bathrooms all along the way. People were peeling off and mingling with staff and other passengers to hit the head, buy supplies and who knows what else. Super spreader event in progress, assuming any of them are dirty with the dreaded disease. So Scientific! Keep everyone safe! So I get to the line eventually and wait for about 20 minutes to get my turn in the Ellis Island style room. A completely white room with 10 foldable tables, each with a person in scrubs, a mask and a face shield. I show up and say "I got nothing. I choose 10 day quarantine." The Filipino lady was caught off guard and had to flip to the next page of her script. It took another 20 minutes of her doing whatever she had to do. She had to call my wife from a State phone to verify our address of where I would be doing my quarantine from then I was free to again roam the airport to get my bags. I did have to sign an official document that stated that I was subjected to 5 thousand dollar fine and/of a year in jail if I broke quarantine. SCIENCE! So I had to make my way back from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 (1/2 mile) to collect my bags and head out to the curb.
For the next 10 days I would get a text message from the State that required me to type in "Go" and then a "Y" to the next question. Then it all just stopped. No note of completion, no congratulations, no nothing.
This is all designed to be as onerous as possible on anyone who didn't get the jab. There is nothing that they can point towards that would indicate safety or science. I won't be leaving this goofy island anytime soon unless it is to leave the country and our Governor is a retard.
We have to show a papers (Either a vax card or a 72 hour negative test) just to get in the fucking library here. Australia type bullshit is in the 50th state of the United States of America.

All of that on crutches, for the first time, btw. Fuckers.Haumana wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 8:06 amI have been formulating my write up of my emigrating back to this island.

I am so over this bullshit but everyone else seems to be ok with what is going on. Stranger in a Strangerland. It is good to be back amongst my peeps and comfortable surroundings again.

My own mother met me on her front lawn, I had to ask to use the bathroom to take a piss, and then we drove in separate cars down to the Pacifica pier to walk and talk story. They (Corporate Media/Whomever") have a stranglehold on a huge portion of the population. Disheartening to say the least.

That's awesome. I should get a couple for when I go to the Doc.Haumana wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 9:01 amI am so over this bullshit but everyone else seems to be ok with what is going on. Stranger in a Strangerland. It is good to be back amongst my peeps and comfortable surroundings again.

Man, I can't be thankful enough for not living in Strangerland. COVID is hardly happening for me, even though I recently contracted the dreaded killer. It took the county a week to call me after my positive test. Their attitude was rather ho hum. They asked a couple questions and then said they would send me a clearance letter.
I know no one that lives in Strangerland wants to hear about a place where life is pretty much circa 2019, thanks for the weird story. Makes me appreciate my lot in life much more.

Re: Coronavirus thread
I'll tell a story...
Last night Gwynne & I were at a fundraiser in a dance club we go to a lot. Nobody was wearing masks but one of the musicians, a lead-guitar/singer but he wasn't singing b/c of the mask probably. We like this guy both as a person & a musician; I went up to him after he got off the stage and said, "You know I'm a doctor. You don't have to wear a mask unless your wife & daughters are making you."
He said: "I don't wear a mask b/c of my wife, and I don't listen to doctors." And he walked away. This is a guy who we talk to all the time. Now he'll probably never come back to that club again. These people have something psychotic going on in their heads.
