I read both of his books back-in-the-day and he wasn’t then but the past few podcasts of his I listened to were golden.

He was almost typical Hollywood dead. After doing a couple stints in rehab and some far eastern meditation yogi stuff, got a wife and kids to ground him he got really chill and intellectual about things, he is still mostly left but he knows human nature because he has experienced the worst of it.
