I think that's a correlation not a causation

things were Globalized before, it was a globalized world before the First World War and America did well

I would submit that it is the Information Age which is unseating the American Hegenomy

America was the ultimate industrial power, but Industry is no longer the source of power

Information is the now the most valuable commodity on earth

but information actually destroys jobs rather than makes jobs

so the American worker on which the middle class was based, is now literally being replaced by computers
