you know, at the time, the 50's were still looming large

like as a boy, with all my friends, we still liked Elvis, Elvis was still King

we wanted to be like Elvis, and have a cute little Priscilla of our own

we wouldn't even know what to do with her at that age, but still, getting a girlfriend was already our main focus in life

One of my top 3 Elvis songs.
Great pick.

No it's not, but getting control of things so we can have a variant of it wouldn't be so bad would it?

Hey, if you can bring 1979 back I'm in.
Unless it's a time machine.
I've ready too many dystopian things about messing with time travel.

We could, if we stood up for what we believe in.

24th November 1979.
My first proper concert aged 14, The Stranglers at the University of East Anglia.
Rock and Roll had died on the shitter with its pants around its ankles.
Disco was on its way out, pretentious Prog' Rock had been blown out of the water.
Gen X had come of age and Punk Rock was its soundtrack.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

you don't want that back

inflation was 12%

so to fight that, mortgage rates were already up to 12%

the tax rate on what is today $60,000 a year was 44%

crime was rampant, and I lived in a basement apartment infested with cockroaches, my only luxury was a 45" record player
