YEah, I think FDR gets a lot of WW2 glory - for really being a pissant of a leader compared to Churchill, Stalin, and Hitler. He did better than the Emperor of Japan and Mussolini I guess. But compared to his contemporaries, both Axis and Allies, he wasn't exactly top-of-the-class.

So he gets a lot of glory for holding down his office in WW2.
And not nearly enugh scorn for how he started implementing socialism while claiming to fight for freedom.

But whatever.
He didn't fuck us up by himself, he just gave the already rolling ball a huge push.

the main significance by 1979 is that FDR's New Dealers still controlled the Congress

they controlled the Congress right up until Newt Gingrich, that was the first time the GOP was back in legislative power since the Great Depression

so in the end, Reagan came home to the New Dealers and did business with them where Jimmy Carter could not

but then he lost all credit for that when the Iranian Revolution came out of nowhere
