Soundgarden smokes Audioslave - and Audioslave has three or four songs I like.

I'm probably more pop music oriented than you are

I'm not a musician type, I just like to dance with girls

I mean, I still like Disco, and always have

Grunge was the return of Rock n Roll

but actually, back in 1979, I was moving away from Rock, to this new thing from New Yorik City which they called "Hip Hop"

it was "Rap" which the girls liked to dance to

Well ... I was born in 75, so ... could be the timing that formed my biases.
There was no gangsta rap in '79, but I was only 4, so ... didn't affect me much.

1979 was probably the moment where I became politically aware

I can remember the politics vividly, with my father giving his perspective all the time

I can remember 15 July 1979, watching Jimmy Carter on TV, my father saying he was finished and the GOP is going win in a landslide

in 1979 my girl was the Grocer's Daughter

at first it was just because my father despised her, railed against her, so I played Devil's Advocate

but the more I listened to what Maggie Thatcher had to say, the more she made sense

the PIRA was running amok, she was the only one with the courage to take the fight to the Fenians

his politics was New Dealer Democrat, he was with FDR

I remember having an argument with him, saying that Dutch Reagan was an FDR Democrat

the only reason we were all switching to the GOP with him was that the Democrats had turned into Communist sympathizing lunatics

But, I haven't studied them extensively.
I'm only aware of the policies and actions they took that I consider totalitarian and anti-Freedom.

Maybe if I read a book on each I'd like them.

FDR became a messianic figure

like the New Deal didn't actually work, it backfired before FDR even, Hoover went for massive government intervention first, with Smoot-Hawley

but then FDR won the Second World War, so he was bigger than life for two generations at least

it was only LBJ who blew it up, on Hill 937 at Dong Ap Bia, Republic of Vietnam
