Uncle Joe has issues with tucking it back in. Trump's a master at that but he tweets mean things. No bueno.

WTF are you saying.
Anyone who holds Afghanistan doesn't need to project power, they just have to bide their time till it becomes too expensive for the enemy to stay there in either blood or money. Russia, the US, Germany, even Rome I think tried and all failed...

Re: Current US Military
exactly, I mean, it wasn't the Tet Offensive that drove America out
you could stay there forever if you wanted, it's not actually Vietnam
the Democrats just botched it, the most incompetently executed withdrawal possible
could have staged out of there in phases, there was no cause to turn and run in a panic

Huh? Who held Afghanistan? You just said that they all failed. So Afghanys (Which the Tally Ban are) have autonomy and therefore they must what? What do you suggest given the list of failures that you listed. The Conservative wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 1:38 pmTell me I'm wrong, and you'd be lying...Haumana wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 1:34 pmSo they can't project and yet they can't be conquered? The Conservative wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 1:30 pm

Re: Current US Military
don't forget, the withdrawal from Saigon in 1975 was not a panicked withdrawal
it didn't happen over a weekend
it took America 55 days to withdraw from Saigon, in phases
the South Vietnamese were fucked either way, but America backed out of there in an orderly fashion actually

We just held Afghanistan for almost two decades, and left when we were damn good and ready, and folks still out here acting like Dan Carlins - blathering about how no one can hold it, graveyard of empires.
We just held it, fools.
For as long as we fucking felt like it.

I think you might be thinking of Greece. Rome never got past Persia. The Greece did find success in Afghanistan, though, as did the Mongols and several other empires. I think the real thing about Afghanistan is that there just isn't anything there worth staying around for.

Re: Current US Military
exactly, it's not about American power being in question
if somebody wants to have a stand up fight with America they will get annihilated
it's just comes down to an orderly withdrawal versus a clown show
but the clown show is all about the Biden power vacuum
they didn't even talk to NATO, they just started fleeing in the middle of the night
it's just the Democrats, they don't even deal with reality anymore, all they do is memes on Twitter
