The point is that you’re pre-assigning responsibility for the company’s actions. The only guy willing to do that will be the COO. That’s no patsy, it’s a serious loss.
it's a much bigger loss if the whole corporation suffers, and not just the patsy

your plan is less deterrence than currently in place

but you wanna front like you are anti-corporation?

the fuck outta here

you're actually a useful idiot staning for the corporations
I could see COOs buried beneath the prisons, or a 10-year court case resulting in loss of a week’s profit.

I know which one would have a greater effect. Do you?

You could see businesses cease to exist as no one was able to enter a venture with a 90% failure rate without experiencing personal bankruptcy. Part of a busisness being a person involves founders being able to separate their personal finances from that of the business.
Millionaire and Billionaire CEOs aren't taking the risks of being jailed because someone in their massive employ is breaking laws.
They'll take their money and go. Sole proprietors aren't going to gamble 1 in 10 odds of bankruptcy vs enjoying a small business success.
Then you'd see mass starvation, as no one opens any businesses, and those that once were running shut down.
Then you'd see the rise of factionalization and violence.
Then, as you lay dying from dysentery and malnutrition, hiding in a concrete drainage pipe so roving anarchists didn't pick your carcass before you expired, you could say to yourself "But I sure showed those C-level Execs! Ha! *cough* *cough* "
"Hey varmints, don't mess with a guy that's riding a buffalo"

…or I could see an executive proven to be at fault hung and quartered for it, rather than laughing and cutting a company check for next to nothing.

If he cant pin it on a subordinate.

If only Monty's Aunt could have made it. Then none of this would have been necessary.

What millionaire or billionaire is going to be hung and quartered instead of simply resigning their position and living luxuriously elsewhere?

Jeff Bezos and the Waltons don't really care if your ass has WalMart or Amazon - if the choice comes down to them risking their freedom and lives to bring it to you. Fuck that SF guy, he can figure out where to get clothes and electronics on his own. We're out.
/shrug

Your "simple" idea requires people who are independently wealthy to accept unreasonable risk while also continuing to supply you with every convenience you've come to rely on.
That's fantasy thinking.
They don't need you.
You need them.

Put them in a bind where their lives or freedom are at stake every day for the actions of thousands or tens of thoousands of people they don't even know - and they'll simply shut down operations.
They've got their expenses and needs covered - several times over.
How about you?

Uncle Joe says that SF is right. Let's see some quartering. Prime time? Lester Holt can be the lead in.

You know ... there are countries out there without evil corporations.
Any time folks want to pack their bags.

But but, that's too hard. Stuffing all of our bullshit into bags and then having to pay extra to get it into cargo... horror, I tell ya.

Which part is ‘unreasonable’?

‘Sir, this document clearly shows that you were warned by the engineers that this oil well would explode. And yet you ignored their concerns and ordered the project to go ahead.’

‘Wait no! This is unreasonable! I only killed 200 people! It provided 1/1,000,000th of the local gasoline supply in New Orleans this year!’

Hung and quartering is so much more reasonable. Most popular president approves that message. Let's all tilt at some windmills.
