Has anyone had sprouted coconut before? I cracked one yesterday and the innards were like a stringy custard. I have one more for the wife to try but she hates custard and coconut, so she, most likely, won't even amuse me.

My wife just came home with 50 lbs of three types of tomatoes. Roma, Plum, and Beefsteak...

Looks like I'll be doing some canning and sauce-making this weekend.

They came from a local farm, so I'll be taking some of the better crop and taking the seeds from them for next year's personal growing season.

Just made about a stone of crab apple and ginger chutney.
I was going to add a bit of elderberry to give it some colour but I left it a bit too late and they were over ripe.
Looks like a good year for sloes, I'll have to get a bottle of gin or tequila.
The hedgerows are full of berries at the moment. Rosehips and blackberries are both doing well.
Next is wild mushroom season.

I started canning recently. A few months ago we came into possession of a shitload of tomatoes. (10 pounds or so) So I made my delicious salsa. I think I topped out at around 2 gallons of salsa.

I gave my last jar away yesterday to a client (much to the wife's chagrin) so today I made another gallon.

Roast the tomatoes, onions and jalapenos over hardwood charcoal on the grill. Blend together with some garlic, salt and pepper. I did toss in some ancho chilies this time too. Good eats right there.

Next up is canning my Sunday Gravy meat sauce that I make by the gallons every quarter or so. Gonna be stocking the larder with our good eats.

We get free food every first Monday of the month and they have been giving away pallets of MREs. I think I have about 5 cases stored under the house. Pretty wild to see them here. Top of the line everything from the cardboard to the the utensils. Tax dollars hard at work.

Sounds delicious. I never ate salsa until a few years ago. Didn’t eat spicy foods either. Now I like both. Wife & kids are still super-bland eaters.

You'd like some Thai and some asian foods... I live walking distance from an asian market... best place to get good food if you want to make it yourself.
