wishful thinking is a helluva drug

if you want to withdraw from Afghanistan

than the Taliban filling the void is baked into that cake

with or without Trump

there was no withdraw and the Taliban never take over option
Why do you think I have a problem with the Taliban? Trump’s plan left a “force multiplier.”
no need for that force multiplier
Agree but the embarrassment is a bit much.

I give Monty permission to debate Hanny.
I tend to agree with Hannarchy.
You've got 700 bases around the world. How much money are you expecting to get back from the MIC by pulling out of one airbase in Afghanistan?
You've still got 40k troops in Germany and 70k in Korea. 5-10k left in Afghanistan isn't going to break the bank.
I'm not being snide when I say that I thought that's what you'd say. I was curious though...

the bigger embarrassment

is that America stayed as long as it did

the main advantage to Trump’s plan

was getting out sooner

notice how those claiming America should stay forever

are completely unable to explain the benefits of doing that

yet think they should stay forever anyway

cognitive dissonance is a helluva drug

To Authoritarians, control is reason enough.

the Pashtun barbarians are popular in Afghanistan

NATO did polling, 99% of Afghans have never heard of 9-11, don't know anything about it

80% want Sharia Law to be imposed

all they know is chaos

there has only been one force which has been able to restore order

the Taliban did not take the country by force

the Afghan villagers quickly figured out that NATO could not restore order, quite the opposite

so they voted with their feet, ran back to the Taliban as the only force that could form a government

NATO actually represents anarchy in Afghanistan, the Afghans rejected that

they don't even have control

they just want to pretend they do

and want others clamped down on

to convince themselves of that fiction

useless twats

Since drtrech never made it over, Bjorn was chased off with unnecessary rudeness and Grumps went over to the dark side, there's only HM left to offer the moderate's viewpoint IMO.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
