What mistake? The Taliban was harboring, and will continue to harbor Al Qaeda. That makes them an enemy two decades ago and an enemy today.C-Mag wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 5:41 amTrueHanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 11:51 pm
We've all conveniently forgotten the overwhelming bi-partisan support for invading Afghanistan.
I'm not spending a lot of time on this, maybe that's wrong. I base that on understanding the passionate views in the wake of 9-11. For me, it's much more important to understand how we allow the mistake to continue for 2 decades.

that mission was simply to go after AQ, and that mission was completed in 2003
the second operation started from there, under NATO ISAF command
the nation building mission is not an American mission, it's been a NATO mission for eighteen years

they don't have the same mission
AQ is an internationalist Jihad against the Western World
the Taliban are a Pushtun militia which only seeks to impose Sharia Law in Afghanistan

He already admitted it was a mistake to go into Afghanistan: in fact, he's disavowed whatever misguided initial response he had to 9/11, so if you're being snide, shut up already. BUT, if you want to defend all of that, go at it: I'm sure lots of people here would like to see you squirm.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:47 amWhat is unclear or dishonest about that statement?Martin Hash wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:42 amEither debate your side honestly or shut the fuck up.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:37 am

there was only one training camp, at Tarnak Farms
by the time the Canadians took it in 2002, it was just rubble
having been destroyed by TLAM's launched by Bill Clinton
