I read the book and watched the Marky, Mark movie, but frankly when the Afghan guy who saved Luttrell said the Seal had all his ammo still on him, I believed him.

that's why I still respect the JTF2 guys here
probably because the rest of the Canadian military is a joke
they feel the need to be ultra hardcore

I don't even blame these guys
I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive in the harsh America of today
it's not like the government wouldn't throw them under the bus
if they can make some bread to live the good life by writing a book, more power to them

Re: The Era of Biden
I was asked myself if I wanted to try out for SOF here, back in my prime
but I was too lazy, I wasn't going to dedicate my entire life around the clock to the military
I liked to have some time off, I mostly just joined the army to impress girls
I was never a super soldier, except when it came to partying
I know a lot of real deal super soldiers, because they like to hang out and party with me

They are just exploiting a system that decided anyone with JSOC cred was some kind of wise god, a superior human both physically and mentally.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 8:23 amI don't even blame these guys

I'd take the money and run too. Write a book, speech and awe for Fortune 500 companies, then start a podcast.

I mean, for JTF2 it is a year long, and it is brutal, I couldn't pass it, I wouldn't last a week

I got my invite for qual, and I thought about it. I knew I would have to give up my family if I went down that path because I would be 100% dedicated to it. The price wasn't worth it to me.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 8:27 amI was asked myself if I wanted to try out for SOF here, back in my prime

is that it is much harder in real life than it is in the movies
I was proud just to pass Battleschool, then Recce Course, then Infantry Section Commander Course
that was more than elite enough for me, and my father was very, very proud

Re: The Era of Biden
like I am a legend in my unit
but not for being a super soldier
just for being an eccentric character that my friends all love
plus I was the best at getting girls, I was point man for that
my only claim to super soldier fame
is that I trained some kids at boot camp in the basics
and then those kids went on to be super soldiers
to include Corporal Ainsworth Dyer of the PPCLI
killed at Tarnak Farms Afghanistan on 17 April 2002
