after you cover the Glorious Revolution
you might as well just skip to Hanover from there
French & Indian Seven Years War
Nouvelle France & the Raj in India, conquered on the same day, 10 February 1763
a Scots German Empire, seeking a Northwest Passage to the sea
that's me, the Orangeman of Upper Canada
just a commoner, living like a king, amongst the red & green maples upon Queenston Heights

genius is just about making the complex simple
so first off you need a command voice, no umming & ahing, clean that up
then you need structure, don't just blue sky, tell a story, make it clear
then don't wander all over the place waxing & waffling
hit the key inflection points, the moments of destiny
Glorious Revolution : Battle of the Boyne
Seven Years War : Wolfe at Quebec, Clive of India
War of Independence : surrender at Yorktown
the Empire Strikes Back : War of 1812
Nelson defeats the French on the high seas at Trafalgar
Wellington defeats the France once & for all at Waterloo
the Empire breaks itself for Belgian Neutrality at the Somme
Britain comes to Wall Street cap in hand for a bail out
end British Empire, hand off to the Anglo-American Empire of Liberty
bottom line tho, Britain does not become a world power until 1690
France was the global Hegemon : until the Glorious Revolution Britain was a relative backwater
the rise of the British Empire is the story of taking the French down by way of liberalization
America then takes the British down, beating them at their own game

see, this is what is propping the Pax Americana up
America is not in great shape, America is a bit of a disaster area right now
but it's all relative
America doesn't have to be perfect, America just has to be better than the rest
the only way to take America down as the Global Hegemon, is to beat America at her own game
there would have to be a challenger who is more liberal than America
but no such challenger exists, nor is there one on the horizon
so America can't get away with shit, because nobody is better
there is no competition
there is no America v. the World
America is only competing against herself
hence why all the tension
gang gang

I mean, the real fiscal gap is $160 trillion if you add it all up
so all the American debt held by the Chinese is worthless on the long view
but what can they do ?
there is nowhere to dump America's debt
there is nowhere to go, there is no other America to run to
so despite all of America's internal strife
America has the world by the balls
so just kick back and enjoy it, there is no future, there is only now

Liberal was the leftward limit at the time of the Glorious Revolution.
But then liberalism developed a far shore.
Socialism and then Communism.
And France crossed that Rubicon with the farthest extents of the French Revolution.
But America found the sweet spot...
It took the best of the Glorious Revolution and made it more Glorious and defended the world from the excesses of the Marxist Revolution.
Britain and then gradually the rest of Europe has followed the American model... (some more than others)
America is still the leader of the Free World... and that doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.
It may be threatened by the Cultural Marxists and the Illiberal Right.... but it seems poised to thread that needle as it has always done.
We should all be rooting for them... because If America fails... we will all be the worse for it.

no, that is not liberalism
the French Revolution was not liberal, nether was the Russian Revolution

The Enlightenment, Modernity, is "liberal."
Post-Modern, Socialism and it's most virulent wing, Marxism, is decidedly illiberal.

the left was born of the French Revolution, they were never liberalMartin Hash wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 2:48 pmThe Enlightenment, Modernity, is "liberal."

the liberals went to war against the left right away
first thing the Glorious Revolution did was declare war against the Commune in France

the key is not to conflate the left with liberalism
liberalism is in fact the right, it's not the far right, but liberalism is conservative
the left was never liberal, the left was born in the streets in the French Revolution
at which point it was adversarial to liberalism and has been ever since
the Glorious Revolution to the War Indepedence, that's liberalism
the French Revolution to the Russian Revolution, that's the left
they're not the same thing despite the common conflation in America of calling leftists "liberals"
the left has always been illiberal, it's ultimate lever is always mobs legislating from the streets
whenever the left loses an election, they try to overthrow the result in some sort of revolt
