Cones on a dog suck. Enjoy the summer, indeed. Uggg.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 5:25 amSzabo is not doing so well
he's got a big tumour growing out of his groin
the vet says he too old for surgery
the vet told Jodi "enjoy your summer with him"
he keeps licking the tumor until it bleeds, so we have him a cone right now
he is just moping around sulking about it
but he's like a hundred years old, living on borrowed time
every day is a gift, he's not so bad that we have to put him down yet
What happened

Re: What happened
we feel bad for him, but It's like medical supervision right now
if the tumour heals up, he gets out of the cone
but if it starts to bleed, then he's on doctors orders
he still has quality of life, he can still get around, he still enjoys his food, he still sleeps on our king sized bed

Re: What happened
Do they rear them for meat?
We have pheasant feeders on the farm but Paul doesn't shoot them himself.
Two or three times a year the toffs turn up with their shotguns to bag a few braces and the crows keep their heads down for the day.

Re: What happened
yeah, the Russians are preppers
they could have chickens, the Korean man down the road has chickens
but chickens require more work, pheasants are low maintenance

Re: What happened
he's beat the odds already, 13 is very old for a large breed
he still enjoys life, there's no reason to put him down until it is like Kima was : living in pain
the tumour is on the outside, it doesn't hurt him, but he licks it until it bleeds
we can't let it get infected, so the cone is on until it heals

Pheasant is tasty.
With rosemary, thyme, Madeira sauce and root veggies.

Re: What happened
Madeira sauce, now you're talking.
Maybe a few wild blackberries thrown in last minute.
