I just don't find Yankees to be particularly amusing

the Yankee monoculture of the North is not really different from the monoculture here in Canada at this point

I have Toronto an hour away here, there's no reason to go to Toledo nor Columbus

we trained a lot at Eglin AFB and Camp Blanding in north Florida

I like St Augustine, it's like the Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville of north Florida

it's touristy, but not like Disney World, St Augustine is laid back

my wife like's to do touristy things anyways, even if they're kind of tacky, she's into that, it amuses her

rather than fly all the way to the West Indies, which is a pain in the ass, I'd just drive to St. Augustine

meh, I'm that not much of a city hater, I am quite cosmopolitan in many ways

I just grew up in a mega city, and I've spent a lot of time in NYC & LA, so been there done that

Charleston & Nashville are about my speed these days tho

it's like where we live here, Guelph, it is a city

it's just a small city, 120,000

and we live on the edge of town, looking out into the woods & fields

we have all the conveniences of the city, except with parking everywhere, and a small town vibe

it's the Royal City, there is a very English feel to the place, along the banks of the Speed River

my wife is definitely not a country girl, she is very cosmopolitan

she can't even stand gardening never mind farming, she's a girly girl

she flies all over, London, Paris, what have you

but she is down with going to Charleston & Nashville, she agrees those are intriguing places to go

she likes everything five star tho, fancy hotels, fancy restaurants

she loves cheeseburgers too, but we don't need to travel for that

our property here is like a luxury cottage in a private park, we are in a sea of trees, banks of a river valley

it's peaceful, quiet, pitch dark at night, total privacy, and there is a spectacular view from our deck

when it comes to kicking back in the outdoors, we got everything we need, no travel required

I don't even really need to go camping anymore

sometimes I walk down to the river in the middle of the night

it might as well be the middle of nowhere, there's no lights, no noise other than the sound of the rapids

here's the river behind my property, this is what it's like

ya'll come up for a visit, you'll get the best of both worlds

five star VIP on the deck & patio with all the feexins, then go for a paddle on the river in the woods

I can actually paddle all the way into the town from here, the river runs through it

swimming, kayaking, fly fishing, drinking beer & smoking dope while you do it, the whole shebang



now if you're really serious about doing some fishing, looking for some big river trout

Rockwood Conservation Area is just down the road, and Fergus Falls is just up the road, lots of options

like I say, it's God's country
