A decade ago you couldn't stroll through a forum on the internet and not be assaulted by claims we needed to be more like Sweden.

He’s either unbelievably dum, someone has a gun to his head, or he’s trying to tell the American people the truth subvertly - no way he thinks people will believe that statement.

Probably not, Australia would probably be able to repel any attack from the CCP, but the CCP would have a numbers advantage that would also likely be enough to repel any attack from Australia.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 6:25 pmhttps://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/ ... n-alliance

I’d imagine that any overseas country is largely immune to invasion from China or any other. Occupied France notwithstanding.TheOneX wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 6:27 pmProbably not, Australia would probably be able to repel any attack from the CCP, but the CCP would have a numbers advantage that would also likely be enough to repel any attack from Australia.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 6:25 pmhttps://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/ ... n-alliance

If China actually managed to successfully invade Taiwan, even without interference from outside powers, it would be a stunning achievement.
This is where Smitty’s input would be useful. But I can’t think of any successful amphibious invasion of a stable nation, without centuries of technological gap between them. We couldn’t even make a beachhead 90 miles away.
And what’s the next step? Endless guerilla fighting for no gain? Total enslavement of the populace?

I mean yeah, you can raid or sack the cities, but that’s not really the same as conquering/annexing territory.Hastur wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 7:06 amAs a Scandinavian, I can think of quite a few.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 6:57 pmI’d imagine that any overseas country is largely immune to invasion from China or any other. there’s the Viking conquest of England, which lasted for a time. And was repelled by guerilla warfare (the medieval equivalent anyway).
But maintaining troops overseas is as hard as its ever been. Not really feasible without complete military dominance.
