the cops have no friends, the left doesn't like them, the right doesn't like them here neither

it's only talking heads in the state run media who support them, on the street they are feared now

Nobody gonna freak if you say "fuck cops" or "fuck taxes" ... but without them your little conservative cantonment doesn't exist.
That's why they're called necessary evils.
In this case, necessary if you don't want a bigger, badder, younger crew taking your shit.

the cops are the ones out to steal our houses, they have absurd asset seizure laws here

you don't even have to be convicted of a crime for the cops to seize your assets

Proto-cops.

As the community grows larger there's going to be dissent over how things are run.
These guys with the guns, and some other folks in the community, they'll band together and set down some rules they all agree to. Those who dissent will leave to community, or be forced out.

Then the community will grow a little larger, over a few generations. By now, the agreed forces have set up some rules that are working out for them pretty well. But the sheer number of people means not everyone is playing by the rules. Now these guys need an official group, recognized by the community, as enforcers of the agreed rules.

BAM! You have cops.
(and they need to be paid, so BAM you have taxes too)

I genuinely don't think that has to happen. Private security for the bar doesn't take over the private security for the grocery store. Like Fife said, they're paid to protect their customers. No reason for the state to get involved.
