although being shot at was too surreal, I didn't even have time to be afraid

all I remember thinking was "hey, I just felt the wind of that bullet going past, crazy"

it was over so fast I didn't have time to think of anything else

it was only afterwards that I got the shakes, in the moment it was just adrenaline

Daaaaaaaaaaamn. Had guns pulled on me but they never shot.
I be the comedown from that adrenaline was crazy.
Glad they missed.
hanging out on the stoop buying dope from the gangsters

drive by's happen

all the black folk scattered lightning fast, but I was the inexperienced white boy caught standing there gawking

I could see the handgun, I could see them shooting at me, I felt the bullets going past

but it was so quick, it was over before I had time to be afraid

well, the hood in the 6ix is Americanized

the West Indians, or Somalis, they don't adopt Canadian culture when they get here

they adopt the American gun culture, Thomas Sowell's Black Rednecks, gunfighters in the streets

this is a Toronto dis track, 16 men have been shot and killed over this track already

Rowan Atkinson a.k.a Rolexx Homi is not a rapper, he is a gangster who raps

I have an army buddy who was shot seven times in an ambush with 7.62 x 39mm

he said he wasn't afraid, it was too surreal

he said everything slowed down, he was watching the bullets going past him through the windshield of the jeep

when one round hit him in the head, he said he floated up out of his body

he was floating above himself, looking back down at himself in the seat, like he was floating over the hood

he has no doubt in the Almighty, he says he was halfway between this world and the next

there was no fear, he was just surprised to still be himself even tho he had left his body

I am the most privileged of all of you.

Grew up in Italian Toronto... but the coziest part of that hood.

My house was the biggest on the block.

My Dad was a Spaniard... and a doctor who treated the Italians.

So we were revered in the hood.

Then the Orthodox Jews moved in.

And we stayed - because of my mamas war guilt.

She was German. Is German

So I had exactly 4 fights in grade School and I won every one.

Even though I was a spoiled prince with no fighting training.

One against a kid who lived in the tougher hood north of Lawrence - grade 1 - the whole class watched

One against a rival prince in my hood - I took him out one on one - when his buddies weren't with him.

One against a punk at my new school - even more privileged - bilingual school - near Forest Hill.
Took him out in the stair way - took the advantage of the high ground.

And one against a Chinese kid in the school yard - we became friends.

And no other serious fights after that.

When drunk I would sometimes corner a punk for practice.

Pick him out with my radar.

I'm not big. So I would need to avoid serious targets.
Deep down tho, I still thirst to kill you and eat you. Ultra Chimp can't help it.. - Smitty

Getting shot at is surreal. The is a good choice of words.

The last time I was shot at it is amazing how time seems to slow down somewhat. Feeling the bullets whizz by, feeling the concrete or bricks around you splinter and hit clothing or skin from the missed shots. Slight cuts from the shrapnel... Everything becomes hyper-focused. You can see and hear everything. Including your own heartbeat at times.

The only reason I survived was I've asshole ran out of bullets.

Was also the same time I got out of bouncing.

I can handle knives, fists, etc, something being hurdled at you at 900+ fps, not my cup of tea.

I got into it because of the money. It was better than flipping burgers at the time.

I was in the army, I had plenty of money, it was just a way of being in the club scene in Toronto on the weekends

I was already fighting for a living, being a doorman at the clubs was recreational

we always worked as a team anyways, it was a team sport, it's not like we ever got our asses kicked

Oh, it was a team. The guy I was teaming up with got shot multiple times.

I tackled him, we fought, we wrestled, I got the gun away from him, he ran down an alley, I was about 10 feet away, he spun around and opened fire.

I went behind cover till he needed to reload, the police pulled me off him.
