Ok. I see that I failed to make my point clear, and we collectively invoked a years-old thread on atheism vs religion. That is probably my fault.

My statement was simply intended to observe that the collapse of societal institutions is leading to chaos - BECAUSE - the weak-minded cling to their existing institutions for direction/purpose. They’re unable to adapt to a paradigm shift of any kind.

Religious belief is down in great numbers, replaced by faith in The State or The Science. Now that The Science is mostly political, and The State is utterly corrupt and incompetent, we get chaos.

Because the weak-minded are unable to adapt. They cling to whatever they get from The State or The Science - forming a new religion, as we’ve all more or less observed. Once that tether finally breaks, they go nuts.

As for my personal beliefs - I also noted that I’m an agnostic. Not an atheist. I don’t have an exterior moral guide, and it’s scary. Mental fortitude is the only defense for me, against the fear of future and mortality.

Make sense now?
Yep, true on all accounts.

But I'd internalize some ethos, bro. Don't build your house on sand, and all that.

Yes Padowon

You make sense and Xenophon makes sense.

Freedom of Religion should be a basic tenet of the Freedom Ark''s Manifesto.

As long as your religion does not enforce the Truth with Force - i.e. separation of Church and State -
other than the Force of God or Fate Themselves (Karma)

If your religion proclaims that Truth does not exist - you will be called out on your Bullshit -
but you will be allowed to believe any bullshit you want to believe. That's part of the Freedom.

As for Science. Proclaiming Truth in Science is definitely possible, although complicated.
But Science does speak Truth, when it is done carefully and is vetted by actual scientists that aren't cronies of some interested party. (cough cough pharmaceutical industry)

Science is a technology of Philosophy.
The Null Hypothesis, the Scientific Method, the Double Blind Placebo controlled study,
This is applied philosophy aimed at teasing out Truths.
Like any tools, these tools are only as capable as the wielder of the tool.
Gravity, Radiation, Electromagnetism, Relativity, - these are well validated scientific theories of physical science
Evolution and Attachment Theory are two well validated theories of biological and social science.

Debating any of these theories is fair game.... but you better put your big boy pants on if you want to debate them.
If you are going to sit around here with some flat earth bullshit - expect a pile on.

As for Jesus - well i am a fan - but I also like Quon Yin and Buddha.
I like the One god and his human manifestations.

Allah was a shit disturber for sure, but then Yahweh was too.
I like Ganesh - but animal headed gods make me uncomfortable for some reason - as do human headed animals.
Odin was interesting but I tend to frown on human sacrifice... call me squeamish - but yes to Yggdrasil.
Zeus was badass and Hera was envious and possessive, but who can blame her with Zeus poking his divine finger all over the place.
Freya was a hottie as was Aphrodite - everyone likes a hottie.
Athena was a Karen - the first Karen god I am aware of - right out of Zeus' forehead - sounds about right.
Apollo was a bright guy and Dionysus knows about going to pieces.
We need Mars if we are going to fight well - but we can't let him run the nation.
And Loki and Satan - the dark tricksters - you would be wise to be on your toes.

Maybe we should open up the chapel again, wot?
Deep down tho, I still thirst to kill you and eat you. Ultra Chimp can't help it.. - Smitty

Just too many gods out there to pick one I guess. The basic tenets of Judeo-Christianity are appealing, as are the Buddhist/Taoist ones.

Other than that, I have no strong opinions on religion, until a pack of fundamentalist morons start making laws.

I don't find that the fear of God relieves you of the fear of the unknown

the fear of God is simply to take heed of the warning

you are going to another place, you will want to get right before you go there

this life is just a childhood, a preparation, you get up every morning and walk the path

the more you delve into astrophysics & quantum mechanics, the more mysterious things become

the more I got into science, the more intelligent design made sense

I genuinely hope you’re right, and I’m pretty sure I’d be judged well by a Creator.
But nobody on earth needs my donations or time, to make that happen. Religion is self-perpetuating. The days of ‘dollars to Spread the Word’ are long gone.

you'll be fine on the otherside, I'm quite sure

If you listen to whatever woo-woo bullshit gets posted in the MSM about theoretical physics, it’s certainly mystical.

I’ve maintained for quite a while that they’re simply posting wild shit for funding. They can’t explain what they’re looking at, so they come up with insane multi-verse or Dark Energy/Matter ideas, to drum up interest.

We’re always going to fill the holes in our knowledge with woo. It’s our nature.

the universe is technically impossible, doesn't even make sense by its own rules, those rules break down all over

once you realize that it is a four dimensional simulation, then you conceive of the higher planes by default

like I say, I'm not churchy, I'm not one for religion

I have a church, my regimental church, St Andrews down in the city, but I'm not a Presbyterian

the presence of God was more Stanley Kubrick than it was Billy Graham

suddenly it was just there, over my shoulder, like it had always been there

I can't shake it even if I try, I can't disbelieve even when I try to force it

it's like before I couldn't conceive of it, now I can't un-conceive of it
