I didn't realize I was hiding, pretty sure I was born here, and I have a great life here that I have built for myself
Trust funded yourself into a hidey-hole sanctuary where you can safely preach your hardass gospel to a dozen people on a forum?
Cool.
I understand if you don't want to branch out.
I ain't taking random sweeping judgments from people I'm trying to encourage tho.
So I accept your "no".
I didn't mean to offend, I just post my thoughts and feelings as they come to me

I can't really generate content to a forum any other way

I misread Smitty's comment, sent him an apology.
Thought he started taking shots on my ass out of nowhere.

Sometimes that soldier DNA takes over and you just start firing back into the brush.
Anyway, that was my bad.

no need to apologize, I didn't take offence

I don't really mind if someone wants to judge me, knock yourself out

in terms of hiding out in Canada, there is not one thing I could do to effect the course in America

and it would just be more interference from a foreigner, America has too much of that already

I have my view of America, but I have no desire to try to impose it on residents there

moreover they are not conducive to being swayed in the throws of culture war rage

it's America that guides me, not the other way round

I just don't take any guidance from the culture war, that's a waste of time I don't have

and besides, I was recce platoon, hiding is what we do, observation over contact was my role

I always found the best way to defend freedom was to exercise my freedom

I exercise the freedom to largely ignore the culture war domino theories and associated quagmire

I take the lesson of Vietnam and just walk away to enjoy myself with more productive activities

somebody tells me I have to take the high ground of the internet A shau ?

rack up some sort of virtual body count, or I am a coward ?

nah, I don't think so

I don't even think America can be saved, certainly not by me

I think it's too far gone, the culture war is not even a war, it's a disease, a cancer in the bones

I think you might underestimate how many Americans would find your ideas about America inspiring, coming from a foreigner - especially a godamn Canadian.

And overestimate how many Americans inspired to renewed patriotism it would take to be effective.

I know - saving the world ain't your bag - just an observation.
HAIL!

Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

I think it is safe to assume that most Americans aren't on this forum.

But (and indulge some sentimentality), you do frequently defend American ideals in a way I usually wouldn't - and I then steal some of that verve and talk up America and deride 'America is always evil and wrong' nonsense to people I know in the real world - with some borrowed cockiness and swagger.

It gets me to thinking a broader audience for that sort of thing wouldn't be half-bad.

still doesn't feel right to do it from my hide site in Canada

I'm not on the ground in America, so I can't lead from the front
