I look at it this way the cities will burn, the smart people will flee if they can, leaving the cities as decaying despite with skyrocketing crime. Businesses will flee, so expect to hear complaints about "food deserts" and the like increase.

After 20-30 years of hell, skyrocketing murder/crime rates, etc, people might start to think "what can we do?" and answer it with logic rather than emotion.

Think NYC in the 70s-90s, then people voted in Giuliani who increased the cops and cracked down hard.

By then I'll probably be dead anyways, so if it doesn't correct itself it won't matter much to me.
