Full independence is not a realistic goal. Develop your skills and preps to help support yourself and others. Form a small tribe. This is the way.

That's my plan, but if I can't support myself before SHTF, I can't support others when it does.

Yup and I already have friends down there, so I will be more than able to help them out and vice versa, but we need to make sure we can help ourselves before we can help each other... because if we try to help everyone that comes calling, it is like a life raft, you can only take so many before it sinks. The only way to stop that from happening is either make sure other people bring some liferafts to survive on, or make the hard decision and don't take everyone.

I have mixed feelings about cops. I certainly recognize they have a tough job. But the profession also has built an enormous mythology around the work and nobility of their sacrifice.

I agree with you. I just think it's interesting to see the people who actually have some sort of strong ethical standard leave the profession. They're inevitably replaced with diversity hires of the DMV variety, or butch lesbians.

Right on.

My biggest take away from that is capable cops will opt out, because they have other options. Which will lead to a less capable and professional force.

Just hire Blackwater or whatever they call themselves today... people want to complain about hired thugs, let's give them hired thugs.

Interesting little story here. The story is about poaching, but its really about law enforcement.

Two guys in law Enforcement get busted for poaching by game wardens (LEOs) by using extensive use of tech that reeks of 4th Amendment abuse.
