Russia knew the Obama people were out of office, so they basically stood down and waited

now that the Obama people are back in the White House, Ukraine is more confident and Russia is more aggressive

this all really started with Obama, Obama had a vendetta against Putin

so this Obama's team putting things back to Obama's project to overthrow Putin

Obama setting a 'red line' that he didn't bother to back up was, I think, one of the most dangerous foreign policy blunders in my lifetime.

well before that though, Obama went to meet Putin, and they did not hit it off

Obama the narcissist thought I'm gonna show this Putin guy who is boss

most of the shit Obama did wasn't phasing Putin

but when Kiev fell to Obama, that got Putin's attention, and he had to scramble fast to secure Ukraine

in 2014 the Russians were not in a good position to go to war with Ukraine

things have changed in seven years, they are prepared to do so now, if they feel the need

this is kind of the message to team Obama, don't think that we won't smash Ukraine, we are ready now

I feel like, in 2014, we didn't appreciate what a subtle and clever operator Putin was. The Bush-era reset with Russia made it seem like we could push him around - and Obama stepped in it. That's my take on it, at least.

well Putin showed Bush that Russia couldn't be pushed around when Putin briefly invaded Georgia

but the Obama plan is to bypass military force and take Putin down with a Velvet Revolution

I firmly believe that a multi-polar world with competing superpowers will result in more violence, more militarism, and more economically wasteful destruction than a world with one American 'hyperpower.' I suppose that makes me a Neocon. If you think that also makes me a Fascist - not much I can do about that.

One of my biggest misguided preconceptions 5 years ago was that the people on this forum (and the U.S. in general) were Libertyists at heart. The fact was that the majority were either Commies or Fascists. When it was finally hammered into me, I gave up but I still resist authoritarianism passive-aggressively.

If we are going to call each other Fascists, it was Neville Chamberlain's appeasement (pacifism) that led to the last WW. It took muscular foreign policy to clean up that mess too.
