going to my Nova Scotia grandparents house in the 1970's, was more American than America itself

my American grandparents, they were out of America in the 1950's

my Nova Scotia grandparents were like Americans from the 1850s

I know what the 19th century was like, I met the 19th century as a boy in short pants

she was God fearing in the most literal sense

but she still loved American consumerism

her favorite thing in the world was The Price Is Right

Bob Barker was king, my Nanna watched TPIR religiously

I think that came from her growing up in the Depression, all that stuff on TPIR, that was miraculous

my grandparents pretty much thought the 1970's was the land of milk & honey

they couldn't believe how rich they were, not rich by our standards, but rich by the standards of the Depression

the saving grace of Canada is that it is so spread out

on paper it is a police state

but in reality, the government doesn't control it, nobody can control it

Canada relies on Canadians obeying the government willingly

if there was an insurrection, the government would be helpless in the face of it

there's like 45,000 troops to cover 9 million square kilometers

their fear & loathing of American freedom, taught to them in the public schools, incites them to rally around communism

they will just get hysterical in the face of American freedom

there is no good outcomes in getting into fights with them about it

I mean, sure, I could cripple most Canadians in any sort of fight

but what's the point ? They wouldn't be convinced of anything, they would just recoil all the more

the whole point of fighting is to resolve a situation
