As I’ve always said: if they need somebody to push the button or break the vial, call me; as long as there’s an even chance we get liberty back? If not, I’ll just spend my money & live the good life.

the defense of democracy does in fact require the suspension of democracy for the duration of hostilities

it only worked because those property owning men were the warfighters

without the phalanx there was no democracy

Greek decisive warfare : we suspend democracy to meet the Persians at Marathon

after we defeat them, then we will hold a vote as to what to do next
