again, the nature of this confrontation is maritime

same as it is in the China Seas

Russia says the Black Sea is their lake, internal waters to Russia

America says it's international waters up to twelve miles from the Russian coast

Russia says America cannot sail to Romania to conduct business by sea

America says, oh yes we can, we ain't backing off from Freedom of Navigation

it's like America had a super soldier military back in 1965

that military was wrecked in Vietnam, over a decade

then it took a decade to recover

then it went hard for the next decade, and now it is back to 1965 super soldier military again

whatever is going on with civilians in the streets, that has not as of yet impacted readiness for war
We won in Vietnam... it was the media (like now) that fucked us over.

I would say stalemate

America could not pacify the countryside

the Communists could not take the coastal cities, in three consecutive attempts, 64', 68', 72'

Now imagine modern day America, where the communists have taken the cities and are trying desperately to pacify the countryside.

exactly, same stalemate

was the same stalemate in America at the time

college campus loonies ruled the urban centers, the rest of the country voted for Nixon

When the US pushed into the capital and captured it, they were told to halt. It was later stated that if they pushed north, the war would have been won.

American forces held the coasts, the urban South Vietnamese fought hard in defense of the cities

the urban South Vietnamese just said Search & Destroy was a bad idea, but the Americans didn't listen

in terms of invading the North, it would have required use of tactical nuclear weapons

in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, America determined that it was too risky, would incite World War Three

The state of the current military is gay.
“I've got a phone that allows me to convene Americans from every walk of life, nonprofits, businesses, the private sector, universities to try to bring more and more Americans together around what I think is a unifying theme..." - Obama

The state of the current military is gay.
as a military leader, I evaluated my troops based on mission command

how well they executed the commander's intent, or not

since the chain of command is directing the military to be gay,

the gayness thus indicates that they are in fact well trained

bear in mind that in the military, you are very often directed to do things which are absurd

well trained troops will none the less execute those orders without hesitation

that is in fact how the indoctrination works

when you go to boot camp, the whole thing is absurd, and deliberately so

we are testing to see how they react, evaluating their reliability to execute absurd orders one after the next

The US held more than the coast...but I'm not going to get into a debate here with you on that, because no matter what I say you are going to browbeat me into submitting.

As for the Cuba Crisis, it had nothing to do with fear of using Nukes on the US side... Russia blinked. I know this because my Papa was one of those people on that phone call at the time...waiting to see what would be the response.

We were less than 10 seconds away before the order was about to be given... Russia blinked.

Today, there is no question who would blink first...
