Personally, I kind of like Australia's approach, treat posting news articles as copyright infringement, and force Facebook, Google, etc. to pay copyright fees for any money they make on those posts.
I liked FaceBook's response of simply blocking the articles.
Like ... ok, fine. We won't host that content.
Seems like it should've been a done deal, right?
"If you host this you have to pay"
"Ok, we will not host it"
But now the Australian government is going "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" and I'm just over here like "WTF, Australia? They don't owe your press free distribution, much less the indignity of having to pay you for distributing your content".
Fucking governments.
