My wife wants a dog. I said no pets and proceeded to get rid of my fish; now my beautiful coffee table fish tank is empty but we don’t have a dog either. I said we could get a dog when there’s grandkids.

We had dogs all the time we were raising kids. I'm willing to do it again when we're stuck at home tending grandbabies but we're still planning on some extensive travel; I'm even thinking about going back to Africa for a year again...

but for me, life is grand, I'm just savoring it in real time, because I am old enough now to sense it is finite
