If I recall corretly, that's called Base Load planning. Having an alternate system that can be brought on immediately to handle the bare minimum required to keep the grid up.

Started listening to Rush when I was 13 or 14 y/o.
Listened to a lot of AM radio because I moved around as a kid, it kept some continuity in my life while I was going to new states and starting over again. RIP Rush.

My introduction to him was on construction sites during the first Bush presidency.

He created a genre. Radio was waining, and with the repeal of the fairness doctrine, he made daily political commentary a thing.

Dems and Lefties never found a counter to Rush. There is no Liberal talk like it on radio.

My first thought as well.
They sure delight in crucifying Rush Limbaugh for his character flaws on the day of his death. They must have finally caught their breath after burning down multiple cities on behalf of the felon who held a pregnant woman at gunpoint.
