When you get to Buffet money, you just want dividends. Ideally, the stock price never even moved.

You said it already: he did because his clients wouldn’t want him to buy bullion but it’s the same thing... He knows what’s coming too.

This was in the meme thread, but probably fits better here.
Free markets work by default, because they ARE the default.
Every additional layer of bureaucracy simply adds inefficiencies to an already streamlined system.
Sometimes those inefficiencies are justified (let's keep rivers clean), usually not (let's redistribute stuff and price-fix).
Free markets, to my mind, are simply the natural state of economics. I want something you have. You want something I have. Let's trade. Oh, other people are joining in the trading. Well, let's let supply and demand determine the price points.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 12:23 pmFree Markets, theoretically, could work without Capitalism, but you have to have the possibility of getting rich doing nothing to spur them on.

You didn’t mention Capitalism because it isn’t required. That’s my point.DBTrek wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 12:36 pmThis was in the meme thread, but probably fits better here.

Oh, since this is the investment thread I'm gonna kick this short to mid-term INVESTMENT TIP out there for people to consider, or discard, or whatever. This was a strategy I've heard from a couple of investors that makes sense to a layman like me.
INVESTMENT TIP: Buy some foreign emerging markets ETFs. Why? Because there are nations out there that have few business regulations and are beginning to industrialize. That is to say - they resemble early America, today. So the hope is that fewer regulations paired with increased industrialization will lead to these nation's businesses prospering, much like the USA did under similar circumstances.
I don't have a ticker that I'm all-in on yet or I'd post it.
Still researching options.

That’s always a good play, long term, assuming that the West or China or Russia don’t decide to undermine every attempt at competition.
Let’s call it the starry-eyed optimist bet.

Oh, and for the silver/gold bugs out there looking for a deal:
https://www.moneymetals.com/starter-kit ... ost-silver
Write them a check and you can get 4oz of silver coins for $112.70 today.
Spot price on silver at $25.30 right now - so the coins have $101.20 melt value.
The extra $10 over melt value easily covered by the costs of minting coins and shipping.
It's a lot clunkier than bitcoin, and won't allow you to instantly trade with people
around the globe. But it's something.
