Big internet outage on the east coast. Fiber line cut.

To affect that large of area, it was a major fiber line cut. Probably hundreds or thousands of lines in a major cable. Each will have to be repaired by hand. Each splice costing around a hundred dollars

Yup, and it's pretty damaging. The school system here was knocked out...
