Sorry to hear about your dog Smitty. Dogs are the best. I love my golden retriever. It just sucks because dogs have such short loves but make such an impact on you in that short time.
There is a time for good men to do bad things.

For fuck sake, 1984 is NOT an instruction manual!

Good life, peaceful death, plenty of liver treats - not too shabby.
it is only ourselves we feel sorry for

Kima lived a perfect life, self contained from beginning to end

here she is as a puppy

D'aww. That's adorable.
she was pampered from the day we brought her home to the day she died

my wife is a crazy dog momma, she spoils them

Sorry to read about your dog.
thanks

she was happy right to the last moment

just wagging her tail, eating liver treats

then the drugs kicked in,

her leg shook a bit, then she just lay down and died in my wifes arms, in seconds
Sorry dude. But she had a life of being loved at least.

I remember years ago talking to a friend who's dog was dying, she mentioned saying goodbye and the vet taking them in the back to give him the needle, she'd done that several times in her life... And I said I could *never* do that, that every pet I've ever had I was with at the end, petting them and letting them have my lap if they want - I've had the vet warn me the could "relieve themselves" on me when the shot hits, and my answer was "I can always wash my jeans, I can never redo their last moment". The though of them dying in the hands of total strangers is unthinkable to me.

...she called me the next day and thanked me, said she cried but understood what I meant now.
"People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome."

I'll be spending the evening with family, so I'll be on in the morning to survey the battlefield.

Have a good night, guys.
