If Trump loses, we get the Neocons back to stand in as the "opposition" party. That is to say, the toothless opposition. If he wins, the Neocons have to shrink further back into their holes. That is my main concern.

When Obama was president, the Neocons enjoyed being able to oppose what Obama was doing, but when they were defeated, they got to behave as though they stayed true to their principles. When Trump took office, those same people suddenly backpedaled and became reluctant to support the president on anything. I think they were afraid of reprisals if he was only a one term president.

The Romneys of the Republican party would like nothing more than for Trump to lose, so they can go back to standing on "muh principles" and constantly getting defeated, rather than stand for anything substantial and put themselves under scrutiny.
