The only one of those graphs that was causative was “free” trade. All the rest were correlative.
Also, it didn’t include women entering the workforce.

Again, anyone with a brain could figure out causality. Those that ignored it, we're bound to get burned.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:50 pmThe only one of those graphs that was causative was “free” trade. All the rest were correlative.

Ya know TC, saying ‘no shit’ to everything, even when you contradict your earlier ‘No shit’, is not a debate tactic.
Doesn’t make you look smart either.

I’m pretty sure the dollar vs gold and debt vs GDP ones could be considered causative as well.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:50 pmThe only one of those graphs that was causative was “free” trade. All the rest were correlative.

How? What is the mechanism?SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 12:07 amI’m pretty sure the dollar vs gold and debt vs GDP ones could be considered causative as well.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:50 pmThe only one of those graphs that was causative was “free” trade. “Free” Trade undermined the American worker and enriched the monied class. Government had to step in to make up the difference so they printed money. Not a problem because foreign production matched American consumption. Unfortunately, China used their trade surplus monies to buy American media, entertainment, education & Tech for nefarious purposes. They also bought American assets like real estate, natural resources & ports.
Nothing stratifies & concentrates wealth like “Free” Trade; always excused as “a raising tide lifts all boats.”

You think a lack of trade tariffs was the problem in 1971, moreso than abandoning real currency?Martin Hash wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 3:13 amHow? The Gold Standard had been abandoned decades before but the government was forced into making more money available for the world economy, plus pay for the debts of the Vietnam War & Great Society. 1971 can be viewed as the birth of Globalism.

The dollar was still exchangeable for physical gold until 1971.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 9:19 amThe Gold Standard had been abandoned decades before but the government was forced into making more money available for the world economy, plus pay for the debts of the Vietnam War & Great Society. 1971 can be viewed as the birth of Globalism.
