The only problem you might find with that... A lot of major fiber runs between the cities. Your internet might not hold up... If I traceroute (tracert in Windows) to say Google.com, my 1st hop is my local city, 2nd the isp's main state hub (hour away in traffic), 3rd is NYC. I daresay probably everything in the Northeast hops through NYC. Next hop is VA (I believe DC area). I'd bet if you're in GA everything runs through the ATL area, CA probably hits LA or SF depending where you are, etc.GloryofGreece wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:28 pmWell if we still have moderate order , internet , electricity, and my overall physical health I'll be writing novel , articles here and there, and a podcast or three . I'm trying to shine a light on this being American style Communism by analogy via Russian Revolution. That's my project as well as the similarities with the Spanish Civil War. Athens has to go on the back burner this stuff is too relevant .

As much as I hate to say it, this needs to happen...but the truth of why it was allowed to happen has to come out.
The people in Congress and in power need to be held accountable.
Some of then have been in power longer than I've been alive. Almost all of them have been in Congress longer than Trump has been president.

No, not everything goes through NYC.Ph64 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 12:09 amThe only problem you might find with that... A lot of major fiber runs between the cities. Your internet might not hold up... It matters where you are, also what you are trying to hit...
It is meant to take the less-traveled route so you can get faster internet.
NYC has one of the largest backbone connections. So it's easier to go that way.
The backbone technically has four or five spots in the East. NY, Mass, DC, Carolinas, and one near or at FL... Then they follow three major paths through the mid west till they join to some extend and spread through NV, CA, Washington State and a few places in between.
It is truly a terrible design.

BTW, if you want 10Gb/Sec connection straight to the backbone. Average cost is $900/mo. Starting.

I'm in the state in law enforcement, and this is what I've heard:
Atlanta has reached out to surrounding agencies for assistance (Gwinnett, Fulton, Oconee, etc.) for help. All of them have refused assistance.
Estimates say that Atlanta PD is currently at 20% staffing.
Georgia State Patrol is technically helping, but refuse to go inside I-285.
Also, I don't think APD has a union in the traditional sense, as Georgia is a right to work state.

Additionally, the GBI found out about the charges against the officer involved in the Wendy's shooting at the same time everyone else did, before they had finished their investigation. GBI is pissed.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation wrote:The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Atlanta Police Department on Friday night, June 12th, to investigate an officer involved shooting at the Wendy’s Restaurant on University Avenue. We are in the process of conducting this investigation. Although we have made significant progress in the case, we have not completed our work. Our goal in every officer involved shooting case we are requested to review, is to complete a thorough, impartial investigation before we submit the file to the respective District Attorney’s Office.
The GBI was not aware of today’s press conference before it was conducted. We were not consulted on the charges filed by the District Attorney. Despite today’s occurrence, the GBI will complete its mission of completing an impartial and thorough investigation of this incident and we will submit the file, once completed, to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Don't forget 3 charges against the officer who didn't even fire a shot.pineapplemike wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:33 pm>DUI

clown world
I read a brief blurb in one article that said the officers kicked him after he was down from the shooting. I'm guessing that is the assault. My guess is they were checking his state to make sure they didn't get attacked again.
