Random as Fuck Sex Offender Alerts on My phone

I got a text today from one of those five digit numbers. It told me that some sex offender in Gainesville changed his address. I looked this loser up, and sure enough he is living in gainesville.


Within a minute of recieving this text, I got a phone call from a Gainesville number with a recorded message repeating the text.


I used to live in Gainesville, but haven't for close to seven years. What a weird world we live in. There are a lot of sex offenders in Florida. A lot. Is this a new thing? Will I get a text every time these lowlifes want to move? That seems excessive. Additionally, I am a 29 year old man. I am not super worried about being molested by one of these Democrat donors.


Does anyone else on the forum get these random texts?

I also get the Amber Alert ones when a child goes missing. I think those are statewide.

That definitely sounds excessive.

Other than a text for my monthly billing, the only nonsense texts I've gotten were political candidates - and every time I've replied "please do NOT EVER AGAIN text me on this phone#, it's my personal phone that only friends get the number to, and since you've used it for your political nonsense I will NOT be voting for your candidate".

Although I have gotten those stupid scammers calling around tax time threatening I'll be arrested...

The only real "public service" messages I've ever gotten were around a couple major storms, like hurricane Sandy, where they had an auto-dialer call everyone in town with a voice message from the mayor "expecting extremely dangerous conditions starting after 6pm tonight, please stay home if possible". Two calls like that in a decade, I think I'm ok with that, even though it's common sense.
