If China is to be considered accountable for the health-related and economic outcomes of COVID-19, what form should that ideally take? National government's official sanctions, call for private citizens boycutting Chinese goods, or something else?
Or should China just not face any repurcussions at all, it being considered f.ex. the US', Italy's, etc. responsibility that the virus entered their countries? Thoughts?

I think we should all join hands, agree that civilization was a mistake, and revert back to autonomous tribal identities. We can try again once the tribes stop warring and form a new civilization.BjornP wrote: Mon May 11, 2020 10:26 am If China is to be considered accountable for the health-related and economic outcomes of COVID-19, what form should that ideally take? I'll mark you down for national government sanction, then.
Except you'd have a very small nation and government is whatever the chief/elders/hunters decide.
Edit: oh, you voted? Not what I'd expect given your reply...

Government sanctions - not that we’ll ever see any - the elite consider themselves “global citizens” - they have no allegiance to any country. They will lobby to make any “sanctions” feckless.
Another day, another dollah.
Not unless the elite come to view the CCP as a threat to their wealth will anything get done.

Don't even need to have them thinking China threatens their wealth. Just that they can get a better deal, long term (admittedly, slave labor is economically advantageous in the short term) elsewhere.Zlaxer wrote: Mon May 11, 2020 11:19 am Government sanctions - not that we’ll ever see any - the elite consider themselves “global citizens” - they have no allegiance to any country. It also wouldn't matter what a few elites thought if someone like Trump could dangle some incentives in front of African, European and Asian countries, getting them to support sanctions by increasing/incentivizing US investment. Essentially taken over what the Chinese have tried to do.
If enough elites worldwide benefitted from giving China the cold shoulder, they'd soon start shushing the old China-friendly elites.

This is a great question. I just saw this thread. I have discussed in here how sanctions do not generally work. They don't really affect the regime, just ordinary folks, and in some cases like Iran, they actually strengthen the regime by giving them monopolies over black market circumventions.
I don't have a good answer for this one dude. I have thought about it quite a bit, and I just don't know.

Proles get what proles deserve - it’s the natural order that proles loose their liberty - they’re simple to incompetent.
Time to find a “Great House” and make your bloodline useful and loyal - or be prepared to eat shit and die like a prole.
