Re: Coronavirus thread
SARS killed hundreds of kids. Nation didn't shut down. It's only when our precious pention holders and check collectors start dying everyone jumps on the shut everything down for an economic reset and loss of civil liberty give me vaccines band wagon.

Serious. I got loved ones. I don't want them to die. I don't want their organs to be crippled. I don't want to bury anyone unnecessarily.
But there is no plan that saves people from both the virus and economic catastrophe.
Stay indoors until a vaccine appears in 18 months to 2 years isn't a plan. People will die under that plan as surely as they'll die from COVID. Every extended lock down plan has not set end date. Only lofty goals that aren't achievable in a time frame until economic pressures kill and damage more people than the virus will.
We need to reopen wisely.
But we need to reopen.

I'm not sure who you think is disagreeing with what you are saying here. No one is suggesting that anyone but the most at risk should remain in lockdown until a vaccine or cure is found. The point of the lockdown is to reduce the rate of infection to a ''safe'' level.DBTrek wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:14 pmI can appreciate the fear, man.

As for setting an end date, however, you can't just pick some arbitrary timespan for ending the lockdown. It has to be dependent on factors such as the rate of infection, ICU capacity, availability of PPE and ability to test and contract trace etc.
Whether you like it or not the world has changed and you are going to have to get used to the ''new normal'' and if that means compromising on a few ''freedoms'' like being made to wear a mask in certain high-risk situations then that's what you are going to have to do.
You can rail all you like about the constitution but your right to do what you want ends at the point where you endanger others.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I actually have, but most people seem to ignore what I say. Meh. I'm used to it.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 7:09 pmHow come nobody mentions in these graphs that countries in the Southern Hemispheres were in summer. Northern hemisphere should only be compared to Northern; for example, Spain vs. Sweden. Spain was in heavy Lockdown, Sweden was voluntary compliance, but no difference in their graphs at the end.
And now we’re going into summer so this thing is over.

If we tested it out to 100% you would have already have seen that.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 10:43 amIf you want to safely reopen the economy, you need community testing to the level that will contain enough new cases that the reproduction rate falls below 1.0.
That's it. The only reason we don't have that is the Trump administration. Plain and simple. Nobody else is responsible for the lack of tests. Nobody else is confiscating tests governors try to purchase from overseas because the federal government failed.
Fuck, what world do you live in?

40 kids... Are you fucking hearing yourself?Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 5:14 pmIt was "rare" before coronavirus. Three kids just died from it NYC this weekend and they have something like 40 more kids nationally in the ICU for it right now. Watch the video before you comment on it.
There are millions of kids nation wide which had it and survived.
NY is a special case because of what it is. It's a democrat safe house, and it shows in the results.

Has anyone thought that the "Green New Deal" and COVID-19 quarantine are the same things?

Re: Coronavirus thread
That actually makes it more concerning. The fact that there are a number of unusual cases clustered in an area indicates a new mutation of the virus. The Conservative wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 4:48 am40 kids... If this were something different about those kids, then there would be isolated cases everywhere.
