I am not sure you should accept the pronouncing of the virus being "marginally dangerous" from a clown who thinks it in any way intelligent to employ fallacies like "well, you are disabled so your argument is invalid".
In fact, it's extremely dangerous and the delusional thinking from conservatives right now is insane.
I haven't seen the comment in question, but if someone is giving you flak for being disabled, it's probably because you stand to lose the least by staying in indefinite quarantine, as you were doing a percentage of that anyway, so your life doesn't change that much and you don't have anyone to support other than yourself and whatever wench you've coaxed into your domicile.
Which is ad hominem fallacy. My status as being disabled does not in any way affect the validity of the argument I made. It was a bigoted attack on disabled people and an example of the kinds of fallacious thinking that is behind some very bad decisions.
People who cannot think rationally are not likely to make the best decisions about how to mitigate a pandemic.
The absolute ultimatums as well belie a childish mind that is thinking ideologically rather than rationally. For instance we have seen endless posts accusing people of wanting the "lockdown to go on forever" or how people "love the lockdowns". Nobody is saying that. To claim we have to choose between forever lockdown and accepting the 2.2 million fatalities is not rational and it's not a legitimate position to take.
To open our economy back up requires widespread community testing in order to catch enough new cases and isolate them to push the reproduction rate at or below 1.0 in conjunction with adequate masks and other protective measures. That's not some crazy assertion. It's just a math game of trying to get the r-naught below 1.0. We do not have community testing at all. We have a federal government doing the opposite of that -- actually seizing tests from state governments so that they
cannot do such testing.
If you want the nation's economy reopened fully, then instead of launching bigoted attacks against disabled people you might want to direct your attention towards the federal government that has gone out of their way to keep those basic standards from being met.
