Now try it through the lens of 'genuine concern for the future of myself and my children' - ya know, thinking ahead.
Believe it or not, reality can be expected to continue beyond the next financial period.
The vast majority of my posts regarding economics are concerned with the absolute insanity of Boomer Econ, and the coming consequences of their corruption and incompetence.

Paranoia is fear without reason. I've cited volumes of reason for worry.Xenophon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:13 pmSo paranoia, then?SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:11 pmNot really. You extrapolate worst-case scenarios from a data set.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:14 pmParanoia is fear without reason. I've cited volumes of reason for worry.Xenophon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:13 pmSo paranoia, then?SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:11 pm

it might rain a little, but a flood? You're a fool, Noah.
There is no other outcome from trying to sustain an economy on debt and currency debasement.

I'm not saying it won't collapse, but I am saying that it might not collapse in a way that you expect it to.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 12:20 pmit might rain a little, but a flood? We knew very early on that the most vulnerable people were the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, et cetera. Designing stimulus around the idea that people who are at high risk for complications would be taken care of if they sheltered-in-place while the vast majority that have light or non-existent symptoms could continue more or less normally would not have required precognition.DBTrek wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:48 amSo . . . if only he would've rolled out a stimulus to the "most vulnerable" before their identities were even known, he woulda done better. Yeah, precognition would definitely be a plus in situations like these. Unfortunately, until states started locking down industries no one really knew who those lionized "most vulnerable" people would be. Coulda been Walmart workers. That would've been my guess. But WalMart stayed open, so it looks like I would've failed the precognitive COVID response test tooHanarchy Montanarchy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:40 amI think we can confidently place Trump's personal culpability somewhere between 0 and 100%, non-inclusive.
As I see it, them main problem with Trump's leadership is that he is unfocused, disorganized, and spotty on important details. The initial White House plan of mitigation and herd immunity could have been the best course if it had been paired with a targeted roll out of stimulus directed at the most vulnerable, allowing them to stay home and socially distance.
Instead of being very clear and intentional about the reasoning and goals of such a plan, Trump spent the first weeks bloviating about how our death rates were superb, and we were already handling everything great. As ever, he seemed more concerned with being perceived as doing a great job, and less focused on actually doing any job at all.
Ah well.

Re: I don't like Trump
I remember reading the news in late January or early February when even the dicey info coming out of China at the time showed that the elderly and people with otherwise compromised health were suffering dire complications, while most infected weren't suffering enough to consider calling in sick to work.
These details haven't seemed to have changed all that much. I am confident that the White House was making a reasonable calculation about issuing overly restrictive federal guidelines since at least early March, but instead of clearly communicating this, we just got a bunch of self aggrandizing.

Ah well.
Because of . . . what . . . China's highly reliable data?
No. Gonna have to disagree with you there. We didn't know shit except what the self-protecting Communist party of the PRC wanted us to know until it hit nations with a free press.
And even then we needed a statistically significant infection and death toll before we could draw actionable conclusions.
So yeah - precognition, dude.

There’s going to be no economic collapse as long as we use imaginary money and consumption is less than production. Forcing production to zero with sanctimonious “safety” efforts will do it though.
