Most likely--but Vienna would remain the high water mark of Islam forever--though they tried again in 1683--Christendom wouldn't stand for it. Um, when I wrote "forever," what I meant was until they just started walking in instead of more literally trying to undermine European foundations.
But if Charles V didn't get off his ass quite so quickly, and winter arrived a little later, it's remotely possible that Suleyman may have taken the city (which Napoleon later termed "The Gateway to Asia"); in which case, he'd still have to hold it--not a comfortable proposition for the Ottomans logistically. Who knows? If they had taken Vienna, perhaps a more united Europe would take it back, and then some! Constantinople itself may have fallen into the hands of the Holy Roman Empire.
It's worth a thought.
One of the only "suggestions" I ever made to Dan was that he cover Vienna 1683--much more fun--but other than mention it in a podcast once--crickets.

But seriously, y'all suck!

You could be burned as a witch for bs,
You have to put it in context. The Spanish people had just kicked out the moors. There is documented evidence that certain special tribe of people held down the Spanish towns as a rear guard and collected taxes for the moors so that the army could keep advancing while they invaded Iberia. That alone is part of the reason Jews were forced to convert or die during the inquisition. Your "bs" reasons for people getting tortured is largely a romantic notion. People just tortured back then. The inquisition was not special in that regard. Some heretical sects were persecuted along side the Jews it is true, but at the time the people were undergoing a violent reactionary movement, sponsored by papistry, after liberating their land from foreign invaders.
Convert or die for betrayal is absurd. Also Spain was not the only country that burned witches.

It would have triggered a crusade.

Would be interesting if we could have taken back Constantinople. But by the time we were able to actually accomplish that, the seeds of our ruin were already sown, the West was divided and the Enlightenment's reigns of terror loomed on the horizon.

Your entire paradigm is fucking run by the same people that are fucking us over you fucking potato head.
I'm not saying that the general population's bigotry meant nothing. However, Spain was a real monarchy not a democracy, and the nobles had wealth, and power, and wanted more. The ruling elites used the peoples own desires as an extra leaver to get what they wanted.

What, Wikipedia was corrected this time? I thought the Illuminati still ruled the world. My bad. :o

Anyways, I was responding to Nuke's description of Spain (ineptly of course, but still ;))
