People must protect both their physical health and economic health.
What alternatives do we have....... wait for a vaccine. Still don't have a vaccine for HIV.

I'd be cool with that as long as I got a year severance to help adjust to the new reality.
I think taxpayers are changed $20k per student
Roughly 12K per student in VA.
I'd take 12

It's simple - we shelter in place forever, or until COVID-19 cases hit zero.
Meanwhile everything goes out of business.
BUT the government prints money and just sends $1200 a month to everyone.
And we all continue to live comfortably, like government pets, forever.
Oh . . . and even though supply lines are destroyed and no businesses remain open - we buy food from the magic fairy trees.

This seems to be the plan from team End of the World.

Simple plan.
Utterly unworkable.
Clearly impossible.
But that's not slowing them down any.

+1 And all that money should flow to the households instead of the teachers' unions. If not, just bag the whole charade. All I hear about is daycare and food are the main reasons to reopen government mandated attendance to a building.

I don't think most people realize how influential their states' teachers unions drive their state politics. Biggest contributors to state elections, in the few states that I have had reason to delve in to, are the teachers' union. Why the fuck? Who nominated them the bosses?

Well, we don't actually agree on your "people who live in cities are stupid, because cities are stupid" deduction. If you want your tax dollars not to be spent on city-dwellers, though... you can always try and pitch the idea to your president, or even start a campaign for that on your own.
I prefer math and science to emotions.

Wyoming 3 deaths per million
New York 973 deaths per million

Clearly the people in Wyoming are smarter, healthier and better able adapt to change.

Cities like NY are centers of pollutants and toxins. It's no wonder they have such a high death toll.

I've been telling you people this for a decade.
Not really seeing you being all that "emotionless". Looks like you want to tell your story based on those numbers, of "dumb city folk finally get their comeuppance for their snobby arrogance". You can tell yourself whatever you like and read whatever you like into those numbers. I was born and raised on one of the more sparsely populated Danish islands. Live in a city now. Like alot of people who move to bigger cities for work or education, I know both worlds. I detest those Copenhageners who act snobbish and pretend that Jutland is all "peasants". Even though their own island is every bit as dotted in farmland as Jutland. It's stupid snobbery, but it's the snobbery that's actually stupid and invalid. Not where and who it comes from. What you're doing now, is simply mimicking them.

I agree that population density seems to be a prevailing indicator of how bad the COVID will hit an area.
LA is pretty friggin' big and populated too (Los Angeles for our international crowd) - but not as dense as NYC.
China, Italy - Dense as shit.
Wyoming - not that densely populated.

You're right that I'm using the situation to drive home a point. I'm absolutely using the opportunity presented me.

You also know I've always held these types of opinions.

The other part of the equation is that city neither know or care to know much about tragedies that strike rural areas. Worse, they dont give a fuck, and use their energies to mock and denigrate rural folks.

Guess what, you reap what you sow.

From what I can google, NY has the third-most physicians pr. 100K inhabitants in the US. So that probably isn't a big factor, but given its pop. density and numbers, it should also have correspondingly many hospitals. It doesn't:

Nukedog looks covered, though. :D
