Like I am not claiming that I know where this is going

I'm saying the opposite, I have no idea where exactly this is going

So I'm not making any arguments about it, I don't know, I just put one foot in front of the other, infantryman

"Disagreeing" with someone who is not claiming they know, is a fallacy

That's called being Disagreeable, which I view as hostile
Resistance. Antithesis to "slow is smooth, smooth is fast".
Not necessarily,

but even if slow to smooth to fast,

only expend energy on fights you need to fight and which you know you can win

Can't win an argument on the internet, ever, all you can do is become annoyed, ergo, fool's errand, walk away

Except I don't want to have to walk away from my only lifeline to communication right now

I was simply trying to understand the reason behind why you hold the opinion you do, to understand you more clearly, wasn't trying to be labor, just genuinely curious
The bug is spooky

Alien invader

People who say they know it, are mistaken

My opinion is that it is BSL3 pathogen, biological weapons grade

Act accordingly

I dig the way you think, and want to learn more about why you think that way, so I can think that way in appropriate situations, I want to steal your best shit and incorporate it into my knowledge base

I'm not trying to win an argument, I'm trying to round out my viewpoint by hearing other viewpoints, especially those whose viewpoints I most respect

Learning via osmosis by riffing with the best of the best ftw

I mean it as a compliment, not an insult

Iron Sharpening Iron FTW, learning via osmosis

I'm not insulted, I just don't want to argue on the internet under wartime conditions

Arguing on the internet when you have zero chance of resolving it, is a game

This bug is deadly serious, so I'm taking it seriously

For example the doctors don't think it was the asthma that caused the bug to kill my uncle

They think it attacked his heart directly

That is not the bug we were told was coming, initially

It attacks the stomach, the heart, the brain even, this bug is wild and unpredictable and not under control at all

I don't care about resolving disagreements at all, fools errand like you say

I do care about properly digesting a knowledgeable opinion and trying to assist others to digest my own

That way they can riff off of me, and I can riff off them, and continue that cycle for as long as it remains fun and fruitful

Problems tend to arise when I find certain discussions to be more fun and fruitful than the person I am having the discussion with is all, that's when people start to get annoyed with me

Like I think they could be desperate to end the lock down and then they will

I think the bug then gets a vote tho

This bug is spooky enough to force them into lock downs they are desperate to end, and not let them off the mat

Like Italy is deeply scarred now

Initially the problem was that Italians wouldn't obey the lock down

Now that has flipped to they would have civil unrest for the gov trying to end the lock down now

The public can get so spooked that they will refuse to come back, even if you lift the order

Like that is where my wife is, right now

Told the CEO point blank ; I work from home, or I quit, it's up to you

CEO : please don't quit, stay home

I think the most effective lockdowns work best in and around the peak, but off peak they need to ease up to some degree to limit the economic damage, so when another peak is coming the next lockdown it more feasible to go back into it, instead perhaps being forced to open up near the peak because the economic damage from being locked down for months on end will likely get so bad that it isn't worth the trade off to so

Blowing your wad by staying locked down when the medical capacity is nowhere near overwhelmed is a recipe for disaster

Locking down and never easing up for a year or more is not realistic, if they do that, this will be worse than The Great Depression

I think the most effective lockdowns work best in and around the peak, but off peak they need to ease up to some degree, so when another peak is coming less economic damage has been done in the meantime and the next lockdown is less painful. The pattern of pandemics in the past is that they stage down in waves

They lift restrictions, the death rate spikes, they go back to sheltering

It stages down like that, each wave getting smaller as they go
