Bottom line is that this is a World War Two level of mobilization, with World War Two like casualties in terms of America in World War Two, it's not the Eastern Front yet, but 800 KIA a day is World War Two like pace even if it doesn't last 4 years

It very well could. These are doomsday bug numbers, over a very short timeframe.
It’s easy to forget that everything was ‘normal’ a few weeks ago.

Well it doesn't so far have the Doomsday Bug lethality, that's like World War Three, so far, not on that trajectorySuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 8:49 pmIt very well could. These are doomsday bug numbers, over a very short timeframe.

But it's already bigger than Pearl Harbor, the Cuban Missile Crisis & 9/11 combined

Keeping the economy shutdown like this until a vaccine is developed is not doable, if that is what Trudeau has in mind, the StA plan, that's next level incompetence
Though he could just be referring to things won't fully go back to normal until then, while still planning to open things up a little after the initial peak here

The problem is the testing, in order to open up they have to know who is immune and who is infectedStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:02 pmKeeping the economy shutdown like this until a vaccine is developed is not doable, if that is what Trudeau has in mind, the StA plan, that's next level incompetence

because they are totally unprepared in terms of testing apparatus, they are flying blind
Germany, Singapore, Taiwan : better defenses and preparedness = freedom of action instead of blitzkrieg

So in warfighting, this is what me mean by the "Initiative"
Because of a lack of preparedness, the bug is dictating the fight, so the bug has the Initiative
In order to take action, you have to regain the Initiative
The testing is the reconnaissance required for that, and they just don't have it right now

Meh, Canada isn't that all far from German levels of testing per capita, they've done about 2/3 of what Germany has doneSmitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:09 pmThe problem is the testing, in order to open up they have to know who is immune and who is infectedStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:02 pmKeeping the economy shutdown like this until a vaccine is developed is not doable, if that is what Trudeau has in mind, the StA plan, that's next level incompetence

America is closing in on their level of testing per capita fast, they'll probably surpass Germany within a few weeks when it comes to testing per capita, they were slow out the gate, but ramped up quite quickly
If that is the metric, then things aren't all that far from opening up, and some of the more destructive measures no longer being necessary
If ventilator capacity is the metric, the newest projections show the old projected shortages won't actually happen, even in NYC
Even Cuomo who was demanding tons of ventilators claiming shortages are inevitable if they dont get them, just a few weeks ago, admitted as much recently

I don't think it's going to open up just because they lift the restrictions, I don't expect a V shaped recoveryStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:16 pmMeh, Canada isn't that all far from German levels of testing per capita, they've done about 2/3 of what Germany has done, and America is closing in on their level of testing per capita fast, they'll probably surpass Germany with a few weeks when it comes to testing per capitaSmitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:09 pmThe problem is the testing, in order to open up they have to know who is immune and who is infectedStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:02 pmKeeping the economy shutdown like this until a vaccine is developed is not doable, if that is what Trudeau has in mind, the StA plan, that's next level incompetence

More likely they will have after shocks and it will be a series of regional shutdowns, in waves
Like forget sports, that's not coming back soon, nobody is going crowd into arenas, the players will refuse to play

I'm just talking about when it's appropriate to lift the restrictions, especially the most damaging ones, not what people will do after many of them are liftedSmitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:24 pmI don't think it's going to open up just because they lift the restrictions, I don't expect a V shaped recoveryStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:16 pmMeh, Canada isn't that all far from German levels of testing per capita, they've done about 2/3 of what Germany has done, and America is closing in on their level of testing per capita fast, they'll probably surpass Germany with a few weeks when it comes to testing per capitaSmitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:09 pm

I think the restrictions will be like this or similar, for months, all summer long, into the fallStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:25 pmI'm just talking about the restrictions, not what people will do after many of them are liftedSmitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:24 pmI don't think it's going to open up just because they lift the restrictions, I don't expect a V shaped recoveryStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:16 pmMeh, Canada isn't that all far from German levels of testing per capita, they've done about 2/3 of what Germany has done, and America is closing in on their level of testing per capita fast, they'll probably surpass Germany with a few weeks when it comes to testing per capita

Like I'm not banking on the NHL coming back next season
