Here's why I have no sympathy for NYC, because I know they are willing to sell everyone else down the river to save themselves.
Governor Cuomo is robbing the poor to give to the rich.

He’s taking crucial and irreplaceable medical equipment from those parts of the state that voted for his opponent in the last election, and moving them to those areas of the state that voted for him.
Governor Cuomo has ordered the National Guard to confiscate medical supplies and equipment from upstate hospitals, then "redistribute" them to the hardest hit areas, meaning New York City.

@darlon

I am familiar with positivism, I am curious how Technocrats are the "new communists." Is it just "works in and with a government?
Well, think about the Communist view of family. It is something to be eliminated, the former family relationships instead being mediated by the state. At the Shakty show trials before the Great Purge, Stalin had sons acting as witness for the prosecution against their own fathers. In fact, all communist countries have broken down the family unit as best they could.

Progressives likewise dislike the family, or at least the one that does not tow the line. They are staunchly against parents having any say in their children's education. They hate charter schools, and they hate home schooling. They basically view these things as threats to their monopoly on indoctrination.

Consider also their attacks on things like gender, sexuality etc. They are literally trying to obfuscate to the point where people think there are no differences between a man and a woman. Once you start to destroy the family and then control the total education of children, they are putty in your hands. Progressives likewise seek to dismantle the family, especially any traditional aspect of it, and to have the government become the primary movers and shakers in family life. They are not shy of admitting this.

This is one parallel I can think off the top of my head.

To me, the Progressive insistence on changing the definitions of words to the point where they are meaningless is also totalitarian behavior. Every nightmare regime, from the Nazis to Pol Pot engaged in this sort of thing on a wide scale. I went back to college recently, and it is incredible how crazy shit has gotten from when I graduated 7 years ago.
We have all agreed that Progressives are lame, and that Communists are lame.

Technocratic-government is only "progressive" in the sense that it assumes there is a valid role for government at all, and that there is such thing as being either good or bad at governing. If that is all it takes to be a Communist or Progressive (big C and P) then we have really stretched those terms.

Technocrat is just a pejorative way to say Aristocrat (or Meritocrat, for that matter), and progressive-communists Aristocrats ain't.

Well, we can agree to disagree on that one. I gotta go to sleep for work. I can continue this conversation tomorrow sometime if you are available

Just because some technocrats aren't communists doesn't mean no technocrats are communists, or that there is not many technocrats who are communists
/shrugs

Some people just want to be obtuse faggots and grovel before anyone who has credentials and claims to be an expert

Yeah I'm ok with calling them whatever tbh. The type of person who wants the state to dictate every aspect of life whether it to stop transexuals/gays discrimination, injustice to minorities, CO2 emissions, or Capitalist Greed etc is operating under the same mindset. They are fundamentally the same person.

They want to control stuff, they don't value liberty (to them it means making choices they agree with) and they can't even picture anyone disagreeing with them. In fact, I think this control goes deeper than the issues. I suspect that if you placed them in a vastly different culture and time, they'd manufacture some other bullshit reason for people to not be able to live as they wished. These people can be seen all throughout history. If Gender studies department chairs and "journalists" were given the kind of power they want every person on this forum would be in Gulags right now.

Expertise doesn't mean scientific expertise, and Communistic claims of scientific materialism as applied to government certainly doesn't destroy the concept of expertise.

Frankly, all this mistrust of the very concept of expertise and elite skill sounds like the sort of leveling of the human experience Communists are known for.

Hey, I’m not the only one who finds this forum to reject accomplishment & expertise. I suggested that it’s because everyone thinks they can do what I did if they just had the time/money/inclination/luck; and no one disagreed. We’re all experts in everything; Google makes it so.
