And ones without symptoms get tested. If testing is in such short supply, why are they getting tested without symptoms? That should be reserved for people on the front lines, like the healthcare workers and those who have to go to work. Not these overly entitled self-absorbed attention seekers who have estates larger than an entire block, equipped with their own personal basketball courts, pools, 10x more rooms than people in the house, etc...Xenophon wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:15 amI just see it when scrolling through Google News. It's irritating. It serves no purpose other than to stoke panic. The media's coverage of this entire situation has been disingenuous.
Some of them just want the attention. Well, maybe most of them. They are used to being told how wonderfu they are 24/7, and now that all those people are are home and they just with just their families they can't handle it.
Greta Thunberg claims she "may" have it. Didn't get tested though. That tells me it's a call for attention.

It's one of two things.
1. Virus is mutating.
2. Elderly isolated early on, while younger people continued to go about their lives as usual, spreading it among themselves.
I'm also beginning to think the amount you are exposed to can affect the severity.

Yeah, the elderly went to ground here early, and we went with them
There definitely seems to be a correlation between concentration and severity
The nurses here have such bad shortages of PPE they are threatening to refuse to come in to work
They'll get press ganged by the government tho, so it's an empty threat

Sweden has or had the same policy as Denmark when it comes to infected: Only people who need to be hospitalized get tested for coronavirus. Doesn't rule out "cry for attention", but there are alot of people who will have had coronavirus by now - without having had to use the medical services because their symptoms are not severe.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

Yes, the amount of exposure does matter.
If you're in a tiny room (or say a bus or subway car) with someone coughing their brains out from COVID-19, you're getting probably millions if not billions of virus particles in every breath you take. It'll replicate en-masse in your system probably overwhelming it faster than it can cope.
If you're both wearing masks and following basic precautions you still might get a small amount of the virus entering your system, but your immune system will detect it and start to produce antibodies against that much smaller exposure - you might still get sick but you'll be starting from a far better place.
It's like putting out a fire... You might put out a small brush fire with your garden hose. If it spreads, or it's started by a guy with a flamethrower, chances are your little garden hose is not gonna be enough.
"People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome."
