Re: SARS Pt. 2 - Wuhan Boogaloo
I was invincible at 31, twenty years later not so much
Once you get over fifty you can't pretend you're not getting old, you're not 31 anymore
But also, I've never actually seen my wife this spooked, so I'm not going to terrorize the poor girl

Come to think of it, I wouldn't have been able to laugh it off when I was 31, because I belonged to the army
The army enforces all rules strictly, you are a weapon system, you don't get to decide
If a soldier didn't follow the rules and then got sick, that's a self inflicted wound, which is a serious charge

Yep. 20 years ago this would be fun and games. 30 years ago a joke. When you get closer to the grave than the cradle, and you have kids and things you’ve built up over many years it’s not as funny.
This is insane. When governments are prepared to wreck the economy you know they are worried, and they are getting better advice than we are. Only idiots or people that think they can skate through this would think it won’t make a major change to their life

20 years ago I would have been at battalion up in Petawawa, where they are on mobilization lock downManwithnoname wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:50 pmYep. 20 years ago this would be fun and games. 30 years ago a joke. They are all more locked down than me, they can't even leave the base
I don't have kids, so I don't have intense fears of a parent, but I do love my wife and I have to honor my vows.
In terms of the government, they are at war, this is what wars are like, things get ramped up for worst case scenario

My dad always told me not to join the army, was good advice. Now I have the luxury of laughing it off, woop woop.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 8:49 pmCome to think of it, I wouldn't have been able to laugh it off when I was 31, because I belonged to the army

Well the army can't send troops into the field if they have the Covfefe, doesn't matter if they're not sick, if a soldier catches it, he's out of action, so they are locking their weapon systems down to keep them from getting contaminated.StCapps wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 9:02 pmMy dad always told me not to join the army, was good advice. What my buddy is saying is that he's glad he's in the army, he can't lose his job, his income is secure

Well just make sure you are social distancing, because apparently the cops can hand out a $1000.00 fine for failing to comply

I'm naturally a recluse, so no issues there, but I'm not doing it because the SIFCLFs tell me to or the threat of a fine from glorified revenue generators, I do it because I did it long before this Sport Killer Super Cold anyway.

That's why I'm not bothering to push back against the Missus, I don't want to go anywhere anyways
But I was going on the I'm the man so I'll go out into the storm, but she started flippin out
Since she's staying home with me, I don't fight with her, no point
