If you wonder what M4A/single payer/NHC would mean for the US, you need not speculate. Just read the news.
For Italy, multilateral globalism, plus socialism, equals death
Globalism of this EU sort, as it turns out, is absolutely lethal when combined with local socialism.
Italy has socialized medicine, the kind Bernie Sanders seeks to push on America, leaving the country way less prepared to handle the pandemic than countries with free market health care systems.
Italy's central planners didn't plan for enough beds. There's not enough staff. There's no free market to step in and pick up the slack, because it's not allowed. According to this disturbing piece in the Wall Street Journal, there are signs of a medical system failure, the same kind of thing that in previous socialist hellholes, has triggered man-caused famines: the crops were there, the delivery system was disrupted. Now it's a health-care famine for Italy, because, same as Venezuela's oilfields, the cash was spent on today-needs and political crowd pleasers such as "free" stuff, instead of investment in to increase "production" (read: profitability) in the operation itself, the way the private sector does. The net result in Italy is the same result seen in Venezuela and all socialist hellholes: underinvestment, leading to shambling, subpar, shortage-brimming results. Ain't party-elites making all the decisions grand? According to the Journal:
Italy lags other large European countries in provision of acute-care hospital beds, furnishing 2.62 of them per 1,000 residents as of 2016, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. In Germany it’s 6.06 and in France and the Netherlands it’s 3.15 and 3 respectively. That year, Italy devoted around $913 per capita to inpatient acute and rehabilitative care, compared with $1,338 in France, $1,506 in Germany, and $1,732 in the U.S.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t believe that the state of California would run, say, the UCLA Medical Center better than UCLA. In fact, there is no reason to believe even smaller, private medical facilities are incapable running their businesses rather than some Sacramento bureaucrat.
Fake news, Italy has optional private health insurance which makes up almost 1/4 of healthcare services.
Italy's healthcare service is ranked 2nd in the world by population (2020). behind France.
In comparison, the US is ranked 37th (behind Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic).

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Of course it is fake news. Healthcare is a wedge issue in the US. And as there is a big (and getting bigger) divide between left and right, and the media that goes with it, I wouldn’t believe anything that comes out of either side.
I feel sorry for the moderates that can’t say something reasonable without being shouted at by both sides.

According to some on the MHF there is no such thing as a moderate.
All so-called moderates are undercover hack bitches.
That is why Kath no longer posts.

Moderates exist, but that doesn't make them unbiased, and a lot of people who call themselves moderates aren't, they just like to pretend they are, like Kath. Lefties in particular like to pretend their agenda is less extreme than it actually is and act like their position is simply the common sense one instead of admitting the obvious bias that exists. They like to pretend that those who openly admit their bias are the only biased ones, and they are above that somehow, because they've conflated the word objective with moderate and don't know the difference.

Having private insurance does not a free market make, especially when the only people accepting the private insurance is a government monopoly, and the only people actually providing treatment are government employees of that monopoly.

Canada's socialist healthcare is more vulnerable to Covfefe, Canada has lowest bed to patient ratio in the OECD
Mexico actually has more beds per patient than Canada.

But lefties claiming to be moderates say the free market is the problem, and the more government intervention in health care the better. Of course, if that were true, Canada wouldn't be where it is right now.

Canada is particularly behind the times, because Canada prohibits the free market
The best healthcare in the world is provided by the Swiss, public system underpinned by private profit margins

All of the best health care systems in the world aren't dumb enough to prohibit the free market, but do the lefties stand up and take notice? Of course not.
Yet these self-proclaimed "moderates" say the free market is the problem and evermore government health care is the solution, even though none of the best health care systems in the world are run that way.
